A Trip From Tragedy Back to Joy

On march 16th, Heather Polk received the tragic news that Sean, the love of her life, was involved
in a fatal car accident. She believed that dreadful day ruined her life, robbed her of her joy, and
future, but God quickly began revealing His plan for a new future.  Four months later she found
herself boarding a plane to the Dominican Republic on a missions trip for two weeks. As she
stepped on board she said she remembers thinking, "I'm to wounded to minister. I can't do this!"
Little did she know this was the beginning of her trip from tragedy back to joy.

During this trip God began the healing process in Heather and it was here that she began to feel
joy return as she ministered to those in the Dominican Republic. In the two short weeks she was
there, many came to salvation due to her personal testimony. God was fulfilling the promise of
Romans 8:28 to Heather by bringing good out of  her horrible tragedy.

Heather arrived back to the United States with a hunger to return to the Dominican. She said, "I
knew my work was not done there yet...I knew God was calling me back."   Today, Heather says
that God has brought her through the roughest time in her life and has restored hope; hope for a
future that will be full of joy. She goes on to say that although it is still a future with out Sean, God
has placed a new dream in her heart; a dream to share that testimony of restored hope after
devastating loss to the people of the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic (DR) is a small island in the Caribbean. Heather will be working
primarily with the youth of that area. She will be Missionary Assistant to Jamie Bello. Bello has
been a missionary in the DR for several years. Heather will help Bello organize and run summer
camps, leadership retreats, conferences, as well as organize short term missions trips for youth
from the US to come over to experience DR and have an opportunity to minister.

Heather is still raising funds for monthly support and language school. If you would like to help
Heather help the youth of the Dominican Republic, you can make a monthly donation to help her
meet her monthly expenses or you can give a one time gift. Every gift large or small is greatly
appreciated!
